Lyrics

1. Sleep On

Vs. 1
Youíll be famous, Iím sure you will be
Iíll catch your show on the late night T.V.
Ride the fame all the way to the top
Your grand illusions, they donít ever stop

Chorus
Sleep on through the day
Sleep on through the night
Maybe tomorrow everything will be right
Ďtil then your dreams are yours
So get up and get ready Ďcause you just never know

Vs. 2
Tomorrow morning youíll wake up and find
The trip is over, theyíve messed with your mind
Friend to friend, believe me I know
Iíve seen the future so you donít have to go

Vs. 3
You overslept, so sorry thatís true
Youíre looking at me, nobodyís to blame but you
A superstar Iím sure you will be
And weíll all catch your show on the late night T.V.

2. Boston to Beijing

Chorus
From Boston to Beijing
In a worn-out time-machine We tripped to stardust
Dressed up like kings We drank to finer things
Boston to Beijing

Vs. 1
Lately Iím thinking thereís nobody Ďround To love or to comfort me
Yesterdayís filled with adventures that end And thatís no kind of company

(Chorus)

Vs. 2
Those days were brighter than most I suppose
Better than I deserved
But time brings redemption, time brings the truth
Though most days I know Iíd prefer

(Chorus)

Bridge
Gonnaí climb the mountain
Gonnaí reach the top
Gonnaí sing my song
And Iím never gonnaí stop

(repeat)

Vs. 3
Looking back I see the four of us then Stronger than any one man
Filled with intentions to right all the wrongs Beautiful, noble and grand

3. Who Wants To Go

Vs. 1
Cross the rolling river,
Past the billboard signs
Advertising every pretty lie
Brothers down in misery
Riding out to set them free
Uh-huh, the devilís on the rise

Vs. 2
Now the red lightís flashing
Hear the big tenís run
Mama donít you worry Ďbout your son
Burniní through the chances and Iím
Leaviní home to set things right
Iíll be back when all my work is done

Chorus 1
Who wants to go with me
Who wants to go with me
Black fire in the Mississippi sun
Sure donít bother me
You want to break that chain
Tell me what you say
I wanna know, I wanna know, I wanna know
Who wants to go with me

Vs. 3
From the gates of heaven
To the carnivale
Sit around and wonder Ďbout it all
Listen to the blind man play
Waiting on his sunny day
Runniní on until the darkness falls

Chorus 2
Who wants to go with me
Who wants to go with me
Drink it up from the golden cup
We can go for free
You wanna make that change
Tell me what you say
I wanna know, I wanna know, I wanna know
Who wants to go with me

Chorus 1
Chorus 2

4. Twenty-Nine Ways To My Baby's Door

I got 29 ways to make it to my babyís door
I got 29 ways to make it to my babyís door
And if she needs me bad
I can find about two or three more

Vs. 1
I got one through the basement
Two down the hall
And when the going gets tough
I got a hole in the wall

Chorus

Vs.2
I can come through the chimney like Santa Claus
Go through the window and that ainít all
A lot of good ways I donít want you to know
I even got a hole in the bedroom floor

Chorus

Vs.3
I got a way through the closet behind her clothes
A way through the attic that no one knows
A master key that fits every lock
A hidden door behind the grandfather clock

Chorus

6. El Paso

Out in the West Texas town of El Paso I fell in love with a Mexican girl. Night-time would find me in Rosaís cantina; Music would play and Felina would whirl.

Blacker than night were the eyes of Felina, Wicked and evil while casting a spell. My love was deep for this Mexican maiden; I was in love but in vain, I could tell.

One night a wild young cowboy came in, Wild as the West Texas wind. Dashing and daring, A drink he was sharing With wicked Felina, The girl that I loved.

So in anger I Challenged his right for the love of this maiden. Down went his hand for the gun that he wore. My challenge was answered in less than a heart-beat; The handsome young stranger lay dead on the floor.

Just for a moment I stood there in silence, Shocked by the FOUL EVIL deed I had done. Many thoughts raced through my mind as I stood there; I had but one chance and that was to run.

Out through the back door of Rosaís I ran,
Out where the horses were tied.
I caught a good one.
It looked like it could run.
Up on its back
And away I did ride,

Just as fast as I Could from the West Texas town of El Paso Out to the bad-lands of New Mexico.

Back in El Paso my life would be worthless. Everythingís gone in life; nothing is left. Itís been so long since Iíve seen the young maiden My love is stronger than my fear of death.

I saddled up and away I did go, Riding alone in the dark. Maybe tomorrow A bullet may find me. Tonight nothingís worse than this Pain in my heart.

And at last here I Am on the hill overlooking El Paso; I can see Rosaís cantina below. My love is strong and it pushes me onward. Down off the hill to Felina I go.

Off to my right I see five mounted cowboys; Off to my left ride a dozen or more. Shouting and shooting I canít let them catch me. I have to make it to Rosaís back door.

Something is dreadfully wrong for I feel A deep burning pain in my side. Though I am trying To stay in the saddle, Iím getting weary, Unable to ride.

But my love for Felina is strong and I rise where Iíve fallen, Though I am weary I canít stop to rest. I see the white puff of smoke from the rifle. I feel the bullet go deep in my chest.

From out of nowhere Felina has found me, Kissing my cheek as she kneels by my side. Cradled by two loving arms that Iíll die for, One little kiss and Felina, good-bye.

7. Cecelia

Oh Cecilia, youíre breaking my heart
Youíre shaking my confidence daily
Oh, Cecilia, Iím down on my knees
Iím begging you please to come home

Oh Cecilia, youíre breaking my heart
Youíre shaking my confidence daily
Oh, Cecilia, Iím down on my knees
Iím begging you please to come home
Come on home

Making love in the afternoon with Cecilia
Up in my bedroom (making love)
I got up to wash my face
When I come back to bed
Someoneís taken my place

Oh Cecilia, youíre breaking my heart
Youíre shaking my confidence daily
Oh, Cecilia, Iím down on my knees
Iím begging you please to come home
Come on home

Jubilation, she loves me again,
I fall on the floor and Iím laughing,
Jubilation, she loves me again,
I fall on the floor and Iím laughing

8. Long Black Train

There's a long black train,
Comin' down the line,
Feedin' off the souls that are lost and cryin',
Rails of sin, only evil remains
Watch out brother for that Long Black Train

Look to the heavens
You can look to the skies
You can find redemption
Staring back into your eyes
There is protection and there's Peace the same,
burnin' your ticket for that Long Black Train

'Cause there's vict'ry in the Lord I say,
Vict'ry in the lord,
Cling to the Father and His holy name,
And don't go ridin' on that Long Black Train

There's an engineer on that Long Black Train,
Makin' you wonder if the ride is worth the pain,
He's just a waiting on your heart to say
Let me ride on that Long Black Train,

But you know there's vict'ry in the Lord I say,
Vict'ry in the Lord,
Cling to the Father and His holy name,
And dont go ridin' on that Long Black Train

Well, I can hear the whistle from a mile away,
It sounds so good
But I must stay away
That train is a beauty, makin' everybody stare
But its only destination is the middle of nowhere,

But you know theres vict'ry in the Lord I say,
Vict'ry in the Lord,
Cling to the Father and His holy name,
And don't go ridin' on that Long Black Train

I said cling to the Father and His holy name
And dont go ridin' on that long black train
Yeah, watch out brother for that long black train
That Devil's a drivin' that long black train.
