Description

Tonic Sol-fa's 2012 recording features a well-combined collection of covers, Nashville-written firsts, and TSF originals. "Rest Your Head" (an upbeat pop song about enduring relationships) and "Southern Guitars" (a moody traveling soundtrack) showcase the group's ever-increasing ability to write competitively on a national stage. First-time released tracks from Nashville hit song-writers, "Wrapped Around You," "Once Before I Go," "Secondhand Love" and "Do You" allow the group to put a best foot forward for new songs making their way onto the international music scene. Lastly, some audience favorites finally recorded by the group, "I Need a Dollar," "99 Problems," "Human," and "Learning to Fly," give TSF a chance to work their magic on some well-known hits.
I Need A Dollar

I need a dollar dollar, a dollar is what I need
hey hey
Well I need a dollar dollar, a dollar is what I need
hey hey
And I said I need dollar dollar, a dollar is what I need
And if I share with you my story would you share your dollar with me

Bad times are comin and I reap what I don't sow
hey hey
Well let me tell you somthin all that glitters ain't gold
hey hey
It's been a long old trouble long old troublesome road
And I'm looking for somebody come and help me carry this load

[Bridge:]
I need a dollar dollar, a dollar is what I need
hey hey
Well I need a dollar dollar, a dollar is what I need
Well I don't know if I'm walking on solid ground
Cause everything around me is falling down
And all I want - is for someone - to help me

I had a job but the boss man let me go
He said
I'm sorry but I won't be needing your help no more
I said
Please mister boss man I need this job more than you know
But he gave me my last paycheck and he sent me on out the door

[Bridge:]
Well I need a dollar dollar, a dollar is what I need
hey hey
Said I need a dollar dollar, a dollar is what I need
hey hey
And I need a dollar dollar, a dollar is what I need
And if I share with you my story would you share your dollar with me
Well I don't know if I'm walking on solid ground
Cause everything around me is crumbling down
And all I want is for someone to help me

What in the world am I gonna to do tomorrow
Is there someone whose dollar that I can borrow
Who can help me take away my sorrow
Maybe its inside the bottle
Maybe its inside the bottle

[Bridge:]
Well I need a dollar dollar, a dollar is what I need
hey hey
Said need a dollar dollar, a dollar is what I need
hey hey
Well I need a dollar dollar, a dollar is what I need hey hey
And if I share with you my story would you share your dollar with me
Come on share your dollar with me
Go ahead share your dollar with me
Come on share your dollar give me your dollar
Share your dollar with me
Come on share your dollar with me

Do You

Life's too short to live it all alone
Let's find a house and make it a home
If we build our dreams on a mountain of stone
We'll have a lifetime of memories to call our own

Do you take me as I am?
And do you see us hand in hand?
And will you take this golden band?
Do you really want to love one man?
Do you really want to love this man?

Girl as far as I can see
What we found is what God meant love to be
There's no one else in this whole world for me
We have each other's heart for eternity

Do you take me as I am?
And do you see us hand in hand?
And will you take this golden band?
Do you really want to love one man?
Do you really want to love this man?

And if we never find our pot of gold
I'll still be rich just having you to hold

Do you take me as I am?
And do you see us hand in hand?
And will you take this golden band?
Do you really want to love one man?
Do you really want to love this man?

Rest Your Head

When I set out to find you
I searched high and low
Waiting for the right girl
Come by say hello

I wished on the true love's sign
Couldn't find a clue
What was the use of crying
While I waited for you

There's a boat out on the water
and it's smaller than most
Rainclouds moving up from Boston
And she lends me her coat
Can ya build me a castle high on a hill
Lock me away and never be still
Rest your head upon my shoulder
When you get older
Rest your head

Lay down here beside me
Like diamonds in the sand
Sick of wasting so much time
So come on take my hand
There's a place I used to know
Taken from a dream
That's where I finally found you
Where you fell for me

There's a boat out on the water
And it's smaller than most
Rainclouds moving up from Boston
And she lends me her coat
Can ya build me a castle high on a hill
Lock me away and never be still
Rest your head upon my shoulder
When you get older
Rest your head

What would I do without you
I'd be lost without your love
Like a stranger in my own hometown
Can you save me
Can you save me

There's a boat out on the water
And it's smaller than most
Rainclouds moving up from Boston
And she lends me her coat
Can ya build me a castle high on a hill
Lock me away and never be still
Rest your head upon my shoulder
When you get older
Rest your head

99 Problems

If you're haven't got problems I feel bad for you son
I got 99 problems and a this ainít one

Tip my hat to the sun in the west
Feel the beat right in my chest
At the crossroads a second time
Make the devil change his mind
It's a pound of flesh but it's really a ton
99 problems and a this ainít one

[Chorus]
If you're haven't got problems I feel bad for you son
I got 99 problems and a this ainít one
99 problems
But a this ainít one

Like broken glass under my feet
I could lose my mind in this heat
Looking for the prize but I donít want blood
I order one drink then I drink the flood
Well, you can come inside but your friends canít come
99 problems and a this ainít one

[Chorus]
If you're haven't got problems I feel bad for you son
I got 99 problems and a this ainít one
I got 99
99
99
99
99 problems
But this ainít one

99
99 problems and this ainít one

Secondhand Love

They had a love they could never walk away from
He said she fit him like his favorite jeans
A little tattered with some holes in the pockets
From wearing them and washing them clean

I only hope we share a love just like that
That kind we'd never take nothing for
In fifty years all the shirts off my back
Folded in your dresser drawer

Don't give me no secondhand love no
I don't want no secondhand love no
I want the kind of love you never let go of
Even when it's hanging by a thread
You sew it up and put it on again

Those were the days that sentimental treasures
Were never sold off the dollar rack
He said sweetheart love's real measure
Is holding on when times get rough

Don't give me no secondhand love no
I don't want no secondhand love no
I want the kind of love you never let go of
Even when it's hanging by a thread
You sew it up and put it on again

I want a strong love
I want a pure love
I won't settle for a not-so-sure love
We have problems but at least they're ours
Don't want nobody's hand-me-downs

I'm not taking no
So don't give me no
Secondhand love no
I want the kind of love you never let go of
Even when it's hanging by a thread
You sew it up and put it on again

Once Before I Go

I wanna reach right over this table
And pull you in a little closer to the candlelight
I want our eyes to meet
Just you and me
Slow-motion like the rest of the world is just flying by

Just once before I go
Can I kiss you
I just wish you
Would lean into me
A little closer tonight

I may not make a million dollars
I may not play Carnegie Hall
But I'm gonna love you like a love song
Just once before I go

I wanna hold hands on a long walk down a long road
Just to hear you talk about everything
I wanna see that look on your face
When I finally get up the nerve
To give you this little ring

Just once before I go
Can I kiss you
I just wish you
Would lean into me
A little closer tonight

I may not make a million dollars
I may not play Carnegie Hall
But I'm gonna love you like a love song
Just once before I go

I wanna want you like I want you now
Fifty years from now I wanna feel the same
When you say my name
I want everyone to know you're the one
You're the one
You're the one
You're the one for me

I may not make a million dollars
I may not play Carnegie Hall
But I'm gonna love you like a love song
Just once before I go

Human

I did my best to notice
When the call came down the line
Up to the platform of surrender
I was brought but I was kind
And sometimes I get nervous
When I see an open door
Close your eyes
Clear your heart...
Cut the cord

Are we human?
Or are we dancer?
My sign is vital
My hands are cold
And I'm on my knees
Looking for the answer
Are we human?
Or are we dancer?

Pay my respects to grace and virtue
Send my condolences to good
Give my regards to soul and romance,
They always did the best they could
And so long to devotion
You taught me everything I know
Wave goodbye
Wish me well..
You've gotta let me go

Are we human?
Or are we dancer?
My sign is vital
My hands are cold
And I'm on my knees
Looking for the answer
Are we human?
Or are we dancer?

Will your system be alright
When you dream of home tonight?
There is no message we're receiving
Let me know is your heart still beating

Are we human?
Or are we dancer?
My sign is vital
My hands are cold
And I'm on my knees
Looking for the answer

You've gotta let me know

Are we human?
Or are we dancer?
My sign is vital
My hands are cold
And I'm on my knees
Looking for the answer
Are we human
Or are we dancer?

Are we human?
Or are we dancer?

Are we human
Or are we dancer?

Southern Guitars

Tonight I'm headed down to California
I'm gonna sing my songs and I'm gonna pass the hat
I'm gonna visit all the memories that I find
And retrace every step when you were mine

Oh those southern guitars
Sing to me like a distant melody
Oh those southern guitars
When my friends are gone and I'm on my own
I'm gonna listen for the guitar tone
And find my way back home

I hear your voice in every song that I sing
I listen to the ghosts that haunt my past
Well, I thought that I saw you from that stage, did I dream it?
But the footlight was shining up and I wished that

Oh those southern guitars
Sing to me like a distant melody
Oh those southern guitars
When my friends are gone and I'm on my own
I'm gonna listen for that guitar tone
And find my way back home

I hear that soft voice calling I do
And with the sweet straights falling
I'm once again dancing with you

Oh those southern guitars
Sing to me like a distant melody
Oh those southern guitars
When my friends are gone and I'm on my own
I'm gonna listen for that guitar tone
And find my way back home

I'm gonna find my way back home
Back home

Wrapped Around You

Fingertips on my skin
With that look I'm all in
You have a way of stealing my heart
Can you feel it
Beating hard

They say you know it when you find the right one
I knew when you came along

You're the melody I'm humming
You're the sweet guitar I'm strumming
You're my favorite song
You're that never ending sunset
You're the moment you can't forget
You're my whole life long
Oh there's nothing I'd rather do
Than be lying here wrapped around you

So here we are I can't believe
That I got so lucky fate put you with me
I'm yours from this day forward I belong to
You girl there's nobody but you

You're the melody I'm humming
You're the sweet guitar I'm strumming
You're my favorite song
You're that never ending sunset
You're the moment you can't forget
You're my whole life long
Oh there's nothing else I'd rather do
Than be lying here wrapped around you

You're the melody I'm humming
You're the sweet guitar I'm strumming
You're my favorite song
You're that never ending sunset
You're the moment you can't forget
You're my whole life long
Oh there's nothing else I'd rather do
Than be lying here wrapped around you

Butch Cassidy

Drop the bottle to the floor
I cant live like this no more
Tired of wondering what might of been
and who I still could be
Let the gun fall from my hand
Shattered glass Im gonna make a stand
Time don't care about no one

I tried to be
Butch Cassidy
But I couldnt should shoot the bullets
I couldn't take the pain
I had the chance to ride with Sundance
But I couldn't bare the thought of you alone, so I'm coming home

Lock the door and lost the key
You fell out of love with me
I can't blame you for moving on and never lookin' back
Now I'm trying to make amends and come to terms with how this ends
What I'd give to do it all again

I tried to be
Butch Cassidy
But I couldn't should shoot the bullets
I couldn't take the pain
I had the chance to ride with Sundance
But I couldn't bare the thought of you alone so I'm coming home

Leaving everything behind me
All the lies and all the reckless roads I've paved
It might take a while to find me
But when I do I know that I've been saved
I watched my life go up in flames
Wondering if I've got a name
You remember who I was or who I'm supossed to be
Bet it all on one last card
Those old habits they died hard
Win it all or lose it all

I tried to be
Butch Cassidy
But I couldn't should shoot the bullets
I couldn't take the pain
I had the chance to ride with Sundance
But I couldn't bear the thought of you alone
I just couldn't bear the thought of you alone
No I couldn't bear the thought of you alone so I'm coming home
I'm coming home
I'm coming home

Learning to Fly

I started out on a dirty road
I started out all alone
The sun went down as I crossed the hill
The town lit up and the world got still

I'm learnin' to fly (learnin' to fly)
But I aint got wings Comin down (learnin' to fly)
Is the hardest thing

The good ol' days
May not return
And the rocks might melt
And the sea may burn

I'm learning to fly (learnin' to fly),
But I ain't got wings
Coming down (learnin to fly)
Is the hardest thing

Well some say life
Will beat you down
Break your heart
It'll steal your crown

So I started out
For God knows where
I guess I'll know
When I get there

I'm learning to fly (learnin' to fly)
Around the clouds
But what goes up (learnin' to fly)
Must come down

But I'm learning to fly (learnin' to fly)
But I ain't got wings
Coming down (learnin' to fly)
Is the hardest thing, hardest thing

Just downloaded this CD. I love it all, and in particular, "Do You" - what a pretty song...perfect for a wedding. As always, I never tire of their beautiful, musical voices. So pure and clean. Thanks for the new music!
